Bob Premium Package for i
The $40 per month IBM i add-on to an IBM Bob subscription, required for Bob to work directly against QSYS, the IFS and Db2 for i on a live system.
Shipped alongside Bob 2.0 on June 24, 2026, the Premium Package for i is an add-on rather than a plan of its own. It attaches to a Pro, Pro+ or Ultra subscription at a published $40 per month, which is why a working IBM i developer seat prices out at $60, $100 or $240 per month depending on the base plan. The package adds roughly 40 IBM i skills and workflows and roughly 30 IBM i tools: reading and writing QSYS and the IFS, running CL commands and SQL, launching a 5250 session, managing library lists, a Developer Mode covering RPG, COBOL, DDS, SQL and CL, and a Db2 for i Database Mode for query analysis and optimization. Without it, Bob is a general-purpose coding agent working on source copied to a workstation. Note that IBM's own announcement page for the package carries no pricing at all; the $40 figure comes from IBM's Bob product pricing page, not from an announcement letter of the kind IBM publishes for IBM i tier licensing.
